London’s most uncompromising girl gang GHUM are close to releasing their debut album.
Months in the planning, ‘Bitter’ lands on June 17th, and it follows a string of emphatic live shows from the four-piece.
Barbed, neo-gothic guitar hymns that speak with a radiant independence, GHUM’s songwriting is born from deep, abiding friendship.
New single ‘Bad Brain’ is an unrelenting torrent of energy, with GHUM blending waves of guitar noise alongside Laura Guerrero Lora’s voice.
“The style of the songs all taste like GHUM,” says Laura. “We recognise it when we’re jamming. We know what we’re doing now. It’s strong and a bit aggressive, a bit melancholic. It’s like us.”
She adds: “‘Bad Brain’ is a song about a mind that is unable to connect to others because of the isolation that negative inner thoughts have created. It’s about losing oneself into the dark side of the mind.”
Jade O’Connor directs the visuals, which offer an up-front glimpse of their kinetic performance energy – tap in below.
Tune in now.
