This Richard Hawley Live Clip Sparkles With Magic | News

Richard Hawley is a national treasure. A fantastic songwriter, his work contains real depth, transforming his locality – Sheffield, and its environs – into a place of magic and wonder, a lens for us to view our own experiences through.

Completing a run of summer shows with Paul Weller, Richard Hawley sets out under his own steam this December. Confirming plans for a nationwide tour, the run of concerts includes three special evenings at Sheffield’s Leadmill.

Alongside this, December 16th sees the release of new live project ‘Richard Hawley Live At Halifax Piece Hall’. Captured in full-flow at a wonderful venue, it’s a fantastic show, and represents Richard’s first full-band live recording to date.

Augmented by a four-piece string section, it’s a lush, engrossing performance, driven forwards by Richard Hawley’s emphatic vocals. Dipping into the full reach of his catalogue, he also focusses on recent album ‘Further’ – it’s something special.

Available digitally, on CD, and on vinyl, the full package is going to be well worth seeking out – in fact, you can check out an image below.

Alongside this, we’re able to preview a magical live take on ‘Tonight The Streets Are Ours’. Infusing kitchen sink realism with a sense of breathless Hollywood wonder, it’s a lively take on the song, injecting it with fresh energy and a precocious directness.

Tune in now.

‘Richard Hawley Live At Halifax Piece Hall’ will be released on December 16th. The songwriter’s award-winning musical Standing At The Sky’s Edge starts a 55-date National Theatre run in February.
