Rosalía has shared her new song ‘Despechá’.

The Catalan star released her groundbreaking ‘MOTOMAMI’ album last year, achieving overwhelming reviews.

At the time, Clash writer Robin Murray said: “Landing just in time for the Spring sunshine, ‘MOTOMAMI’ blows away the lingering strictures of lockdown, and finds a true modern icon bathing in personal freedoms.”

The full ‘MOTOMAMI’ tour has caused no end of meme-creating headlines, with Rosalía also displaying a knack for continual invention.

Piecing together new music, ‘Despechá’ has become a focal point of the set, and it’s now gained a full release on streaming services. In a note, Rosalía says…

“There are many ways to be ‘Despechá’, in this theme it is from the freeness or the craziness, moving without reservations or regrets. This is the place from where I make music, from where I did it when I first started and where I will continue to until God says so. I’m grateful for having been able to travel in recent years and have learned from music from other places including the DR, where artists like Fefita La Grande, Juan Luis Guerra and Omega have inspired me and without them this song would not exist.”

A maximalist piece of future-pop, ‘Despechá’ locates personal freedom while aligning itself to her deep roots. A blend of old and new, it adds another scintillating layer to the ‘MOTOMAMI’ story.

Tune in now.

Rosalía returns to Europe later this year – she will play London’s O2 Arena on December 15th, as part of a continent wide tour. Tickets are on sale now, but you’d best be quick!
