The Weeknd connects with Playboi Carti and Madonna for “Popular”.
After teasing it last month at the Cannes film festival, The Weeknd has officially released his new single “Popular”. The highly anticipated track features assistance from Playboi Carti and Madonna. Just recently, the Canadian star teased the track with Facetime with the “Whole Lotta Red” rapper. This follows up Abel’s previous offering “Double Fantasy” with Future.
“Tell me, do you see her? She’s livin’ her life / Even if she acts like she don’t want the limelight / But if you knew her (Yeah), she lives a lie / She calls the paparazzi then she acts surprised,” sings Weeknd.
The song is taken from the Soundtrack to Weeknd’s upcoming HBO show “The Idol”, which is scheduled to drop this Sunday (June 4th). The highly anticipated show is created by The Weeknd, Euphoria director Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim. The series stars The Weeknd himself in the lead role along with Lily Rose Depp. The other cast includes Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, Rachel Sennott, Steve Zissis and more.
