Johnny Marr has responded to Morrissey’s barbed open letter.
The singer placed the open letter on the website Morrissey Central last night, asking Johnny Marr to stop mentioning him in interviews.
The letter itself wasn’t particularly kind, at one point saying:
“Move on… you have positioned yourself ever-ready as rent-a-quote whenever the press require an ugly slant on something I half-said…”
Johnny Marr has seemingly read the letter, and has responded over social media.
The guitarist seems to laugh off Morrissey’s barbs, commenting: “An ‘open letter’ hasn’t really been a thing since 1953, It’s all ‘social media’ now. Even Donald J Trump had that one down.”
He adds: “Also, this fake news business…a bit 2021 yeah?”
