Eminem Takes The Knee During Super Bowl Half-Time Show | News

Eminem took the knee during the Super Bowl half-time.

The sporting event is the year’s most-watched American TV broadcast, regularly gaining audiences of up to 100 million people.

Now a global extravaganza, the half-time show is a glitzy event, with music icons queuing up for the opportunity to perform.

With the Super Bowl returning to the LA area for the first time since 1993, the half-time show turned into a hip-hop celebration.

Dr. Dre ignited proceedings, before giving way to his collaborator Snoop Dogg; Kendrick Lamar performed ‘m.a.a.D City’ and his seminal cut ‘Alright’ prompting LeBron James to tweet that it was the best half-time performance he’d ever seen.

It wasn’t just West Coast artists, however; 50 Cent bowled through ‘In Da Club’ while the majestic Mary J Blige sang ‘Family Affair’ and ‘No More Drama’.

Ending as it began, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg closed the half-time show with ‘Still D.R.E.’.

The show lacked the political edge of previous instalments, and it was left to the somewhat unlikely figure of Eminem to reintroduce it.

Performing ‘Forgot About Dre’ and ‘Lose Yourself’, he then took the knee – the gesture for racial justice associated with the American footballers Colin Kaepernick.
